How to Live Above and Beyond Your Job Description

The word “vocation” comes from a Latin root which means “to have a sense of calling.”  Literally, a vocation is a calling to do the work that you love to do.  It has been estimated, however, that 90% of all Americans do not like their jobs.  There is a lack of passion, enthusiasm and achievement.  The level with which an individual moves through life is called inspiration, and inspiration flows primarily from having a sense of vision and purpose for ones life.  Unfortunately, most job descriptions leave individuals feeling a lack of significance and purpose. The new breed of employee wants more; they want to feel that their work adds meaning to their life.

“How to Live Above and Beyond Your Job Description” is designed to give supervisors the tools they need to help individuals develop strategies for re-energizing their careers by building personal values, vision, meaning and significance into their job descriptions.
